TL;DR
It's expensive — but on second thought, maybe it's reasonable? But it still feels expensive 🥲 The portion seems small, even though it's probably the same as dining in. However, since it tastes delicious, even though it's pricey... I'm happy, because the money spent feels worth it for the taste and how filling it is...
Somehow writing this makes me feel even sadder...

Since moving to this city — Payakumbuh — I had never bought ramen. Back in Padang, I loved eating noodles, like Mie Nuklir from Warung Kekinian, Kare Ramen at Oishii — I think their shop is closed now — and my absolute favorite, though it's so expensive I could only have it once every six months, which is Beef Ramyeon + Es Kopi Susu Mason. So in this session, I bought Ramen Karee Chili — I was actually supposed to buy Nasi Guru — for the very first time. Is it good?
Packaging and Condition
Ordered via Gofood, and it arrived in good shape. Safe condition, safe temperature, everything was in a very good state when received :)) As for the packaging... It's nice, but maybe because I didn't transfer the food to a larger bowl, it looked "small" in terms of portion. The Iced Tiramisu packaging was also well-received, and nothing leaked/spilled from its cup :))
Taste and Texture
The seasoning is delicious! It's savory, hits the right level of spiciness, and I actually think I got a stomachache after eating it, probably because it was too spicy 🤣 But it's good! The noodle texture is also great! Meaning it wasn't cooked too long until mushy, or too dry and hard from being undercooked. The combination ends up tasting really good! The Iced Tiramisu is also delicious! You can taste the tiramisu, and the coffee flavor is there too. Since it's coffee, I finished it immediately 😂
Portion and Practicality
Since the packaging can be used directly to eat from, it's very "practical." In terms of portion, honestly, even though it seems "small," it actually fills you up. They also provide cutlery, so you can eat without needing to prepare your own. Even drinking the Iced Tiramisu is just a sip away since it's already in a cup and a straw is provided.
Well, it might be a good idea to look at some of the ramen photos above. I took these photos when eating alone and with my younger sibling over the past few months. The portion looks big and generous, right? In August 2025, when I first dined in there, I asked, and they said the portion is exactly the same. So maybe it really is just the packaging that makes it seem little. How filling is it? It fills you up just the same. Very satisfied!
Price vs Satisfaction
During my stream, I felt like I was complaining a lot, even though toward the end you could hear me enjoying it. Yeah... A price in the 40k IDR range can be considered expensive, especially compared to other meals that cost only 12-15k or maybe 20k max per portion. 40k is like paying for two meals, you know. Especially when it arrives looking small and little.
But... on second thought, for a meal you only have once in a few months... I think 40k is still okay. Treating yourself to something delicious and expensive once in a while, maybe is an okay thing...
Adli's Recommendation
[VERDICT: YES]Closing
I rarely eat expensive food, honestly. Considering my finances aren't that strong yet, deciding to buy a meal for 40-50k a portion takes a lot of overthinking. Even the Beef Ramyeon I mentioned loving earlier, I only dared to eat about once every six months. That's why, when buying this meal, I thought long and hard. But finally, I worked up the courage to buy ramen at this Saburo Ramen, and... ended up enjoying it. Yeah, even though I was a bit regretful and disappointed at first because I expected it to be bigger. But thinking about it again, it seems it wasn't that bad after all. Maybe my expectations were just too high. Since that day, I've bought food from the same restaurant several times, and this shop is still my go-to ramen shop in this small town of mine. There are other ramen shops, but I haven't dared to try them because, well... finances. Hahaha...
That's all for now! Gotta clean up! See you in the next food review!
